On NBA2K18 I worked for the first half of the project during the concepting phase prior to leaving Visual Concepts to work at Outpost Games. During that time I worked closely with the art director to create the new UI branding and style to be used throughout all the menu's. My concepts were inspired by brutalist architecture to create physical spaces with architectural elements evoking basketball themes through the interplay of light and shadow in interesting ways.
I was drawn to modern architecture and museums to create unique backgrounds for the more flat UI panels to live in front of. The idea to create a unified physical space that would explored during menu navigation was a large complicated goal I was very interested in pursuing.
